Dr. Yarus is licensed to practice before the United State Patent and Trademark Office as a patent Agent and the Israel Patent office as a Patent Attorney. He is experienced with prosecution in other jurisdictions such as the EPO, Canada, India, Australia, Japan, Russia and China through foreign associates.  He has worked at leading laws in Israel and served as in house counsel for an industrial consulting company. Since 1999 he has developed the ability to integrate patent protection into a business plan and guide clients in building an IP portfolio that will serve their needs as their business develops. In some cases, this has resulted in counseling clients to buy or license patents held by others.

Dr. Yarus completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1993. He holds an M.Sc. in Agriculture from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1985). His B.Sc. in Agriculture is from the Ohio State University (1982). His academic background in biochemistry, biotechnology, agriculture and molecular biology is enhanced  by technical expertise in diverse fields such as  medical imaging, clean tech, solar energy, nano-particle based technology, medical devices, bone cement, RF applications, water purification and communications systems acquired during years of practice.

Dr. Yarus was a member of a team involved in commercial biotechnology including research aimed at development of a veterinary vaccine at Bio-Taglit Ltd. and attempts to develop an improved method for generating transgenic animals at Scopus Genetics Ltd.

After acquiring his Ph.D., Dr. Yarus worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Cell Biology at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston TX). His research involved targeting heterologous protein to the mammary gland for expression in milk of transgenic mice and swine. During this time he also conceived, and helped implement, an online database of mammary transgenes.

In 1999 Dr. Yarus returned to Israel and started working in patent drafting and patent prosecution. After working his way up to top tier Israeli IP firms, he transitioned to an industrial consulting company in order to develop a closer relationship with a smaller number of clients. In 2013 he opened his own practice.
